what would you say are some good things admins can do?
- someone who roleplays with everyone and not just his/her friends - someone who keeps to his/her own standards (doesn't disobey the rules just because s/he is an admin/staff member) - exerts both in character and out of character participation throughout the board

Good admins are very professional with how they present themselves and the site. One example would be hearing both sides of an argument if there is one, but privately and not publicly. They are very calm and mature. I also prefer them to have better grammar/spelling than average, because that makes the site feel more professional.

an admin that takes suggestions and isn't power hungry.
an example would be when i was part of this one site. i got banned from this site just because i made a suggestion to her about how to make the site better, it didn't make a whole of sense to me really since an admin should always want to make their site better.

I like admins that have an open mind to suggestions and do not ignore something because they don't agree with it. They should stick to their rules, and post at the amount, cause otherwise it gives a bad image.
Fairness is a very good quality aswell.

It would be a pet peeve of mine, too, if an admin took sides just because they were friends with someone. They have to know when to put down.
I hear you guys on having an open mind to suggestions, especially if it's a good suggestion but they simply hold something against it or something.

A good admin cannot bend the rules no matter who the person is, but if there is a reasonable excuse as to why something was not being obeyed, a simply warning will suffice better than an entire ban. Also, they shouldn't be extremely professional. I personally think that when admins are friendlier and have playful arguments with the other members and so forth, members tend to join their sites. No one wants someone who is absolutely perfect or way too stiff. So, in other words, be friendly and open, but know when to draw the line. ;]

A good Admin will always make a site a friendly environment. if someone new joins it's good to greet them and perhaps help them out. Introduce them to the others and etcetera, I find on sites that are more friendly people tend to stick around.
