What do you do with staff members who wont work? We're having to deal with one at the moment, no staffing duties done, only ever rped in one thread (we've been open a few months).
We're handling it by pming with a warning and then looking out for improvement. If they don't improve will be giving one last warning and if after that they're no better they'll be de-staffed.
How do you deal with it? Has it ever happened to you?

i've had this happened to me a couple of times before. we started by encouraging one to update the claims we have and it took her a week to do them. we ask her to look at profiles every once in a while, sometimes link back, but she never does anything on her own. so this week we are watching her and another staff member to see if they are doing anything. at the end of the week, if they haven't done anything (without us asking them to do something), then we will de-staff them.
i would say give them things that need to be done with that warning, if you haven't. see if they're doing that and such. make sure they do it on a regular basis. how you're taking care of it sounds good though. (:

The very first site I opened up it happened to me, and it was a terrible experience to say the least. Of course, you tend to usually like the person in giving them the admin position and you're forever making up excuses as to why they aren't helping. But, things tend to get out of control. Unfortunately, I didn't figure this out myself until my site died when I wasn't able to get onto the site and my co-admin didn't do anything.
Still, if I could do something differently, I would warn my co-admin and if that person continued in being inactive in their duties, then delete them. Of course, when I was staffing for my second site, my co-admin from my first came back at that moment and asked for a position. But, never make the same mistakes twice and hope that they will do a better job next time. I didn't even take that risk.

When dealing with lazy staff it's best to approach this by PM. Tell them what they are doing wrong and why you want to keep them as staff. Ask them if there is a reason for inactivity and if not test them. Give them a list of things to do and tell them if they do not complete them all by a certain date (with exceptions) they will be de-staffed. If problems continue afterward warn them again. If they still continue, three strikes their out.

We dealt with it and it's been sorted now but it's still really interesting to hear how others deal with this. I hadn't realized it was a problem on so many forums.
